Stephen King briefly goes off on "Twilight" author Stephanie Meyer, ROFLMAO. Bonus points for reports from the internet of incredibly ignorant teen Twilight fans being all "uhh liek I dunno who this stephen king guy is but I guess he's just really jealous of her success!" *choke* The comments at USA Weekend itself are truly hilarious, such as "SM books have a wider and veried audience" (um...no, honey. Just no. Even if we pretend "veried" is a word...still, no.)

I don't even like King, but ... ha!

Ahem.

Senate Amendment to Bar Museums From Any Economic Recovery Funds
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) has introduced an amendment to prohibit any funds
in the economic stimulus bill from going to museums.

The language of the amendment, (Amendment No. 175, as filed) is, "None
of the amounts appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may
be used for any casino or other gambling establishment, aquarium, zoo,
golf course, swimming pool, stadium, community park, museum, theater,
arts center, or highway beautification project, including renovation,
remodeling, construction, salaries, furniture, zero-gravity chairs, big
screen televisions, beautification, rotating pastel lights, and dry heat
saunas."

This amendment may be offered as early as Wednesday, February 4. Call
your Senators TODAY and urge them to vote NO on the Coburn "Limitation
of Funds Amendment No. 175." To reach your Senators, call the Capitol
Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your Senators' offices.

Please call today!

Oh, good grief. Museums work with schools, employee lots of people, wtf. Also, what's wrong with arts centers, city swimming pools and parks?

Screw you, Coburn!

P. S. I am not in the mood to argue with you about this. This is purely an informational post for people who might also be interested. If you want to say "But the bill can't provide for everything," just save it.

Whee! I need to remember that Wednesdays are half-off days at the secondhand store near my place (just a couple blocks away). Their stuff tends to be in good condition and of good quality. If you ever want a salwar kameez for $12 or dupattas (the gorgeous large rectangular scarves that go with salwar kameez and similar) for a few bucks or authentic qipao/cheongsam dresses and tops and Chinese jackets, we've usually got 'em. Lots of other cute things for $5 or less on Wednesdays before 3 PM, but I was wishing one of my skinny local friends were with me, because the average item in the store is probably an 8 or so. There were the prettiest tops with high ruffled necks for $3, awesome for steampunking up your officewear, but they were far too small for me. Snf.

I got a layering shirt for summer and two polo shirts for C., $9 total.

It's a real time investment, though, because nothing is sorted by size AT ALL. Just type and color (?!). If you ever want to join me, let me know.
